Development Workshops with Greydis Montero - 7 & 8 Nov 2015
We are very excited to announce that we've finally found a free weekend in Greydis' very busy diary to hold "Round Two" of her very popular Wellington Development Workshops. Only took us a year to get her back, but I promise you it will have been worth the wait.
Greydis will be teaming up with Rafael again this year to bring you a 200% Cuban experience.
Get ready to unleash your inner dancer Cuban-style; improve your body movement, rhythm and timing; increase your styling and moves repertoire; and have a great time!
Building on last year’s workshops “Round Two” offers something for both first timers and repeat offenders, men (check out the new man's styling class) and woman, beginners and the more advanced, individuals and couples.
Saturday (7 Nov) - T1 (Top Floor Studio) – Whitireia Performanc Centre - 25 Vivian Street, Wellington
- 1.00pm Cuban Body Isolation - Part 1 (Open Level)
This workshop, which we have divided into two parts over two days (again), will give you the tools to (further) develop your own “flavour” from the inside out using Afro-Cuban technique – the root of Cuban dance. This is also a great way to warm up for the workshops to follow.

- 3.30pm Cubatón (Open Level)
So what is Cubatón you ask? In short, Cubatón evolved from the words ‘Cuba’ and ‘Reggaeton’. Cubatón is Reggaeton “a lo cubano”, but more melodic and stylish. It’s an intoxicating mix of music as well as a hot, passionate dancing style from Cuba.

Los 4 and Gente de Zona are probably the most famous Cubatón bands inside and outside of Cuba. Here's a video of the song Gente de Zona and Enrique Iglesias were nominated for the Latin Grammy "record of the year" last year for: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NUsoVlDFqZg

NB: The one-hour workshops will start on time. To help us keep things on track, please turn up 10 minutes beforehand to check in.
Wondering what to wear/bring? These workshops are a real workout and can get quite hot. Come dressed comfortably – like you would for the gym, leggings and a singlet. In terms of footwear, the Body Isolation classes are done in bare feet as you really need to be grounded for these ones.. and then comfort rules for the others. Dance sneakers or flat jazz shoes, sneakers without much grip are all good options, heels for the ladies styling class if you like dancing in heels. Bring a water bottle and a towel and even a change or top or two!
Interested in doing something not mentioned above, e.g. Afro-Cuban Rumba or Contemporary?
