From Rumba to Reggaetón, Cuban dancer and choreographer Rafael Ferrer Noel performs and teaches a range of Afro-Cuban dance styles including Rumba, Son, Mambo, Cha Cha Chá, Cuban Salsa/Casino and Reggaetón, as well as Afro-Cuban Contemporary dance. Rafael also sings and plays percussion in a number of Wellington-based bands including his very own Afro-Cuban jazz bands MafereFUN Yemayá and AfroKan, as well the Cuban Duo Madera Fina and the Son de Cuba Quartet. COVID-19 UPDATE: 17/02/21 - Wellington @ Alert Level 1 - Back in Busines
With the return to Alert Level 1 we are back in business as of tomorrow (Thursday 18 February)! Starting with our second to last Salsa @ Sunset Session for this year Thursday evening. followed by our Annual BBQ on Saturday afternoon.. and with the first of our second 4-week cycle of classes now set for next week. See our calendar for details. A new date for the The Madera Fina Cuban Duo Relaunch, which was supposed to be on today, yet to be confirmed.
In terms of classes while in Alert Leve 1 we've just got a "few" simple rules:
- if you haven't already registered online, please do so to remove the need to fill in class sheet on arrival. Here's the link to the rego form.
- please either pay online or at class with debit/credit card using paywave rather than cash
- scan the QR code as you enter the studio
- use the hand sanitizer provided at class before and after class
- you are welcome to wear a mask, but not obligatory as things stand
- if you would prefer not to swap partners, please bring your own and tell the teacher
- please bring your own water bottle
- if you are not ready to return to class yet we totally understand and will either hold or refund your registration/payment. Just email rosina@cubanfusion.co.nz
- and last but not least, please don't come to class if you have cold or flu symptoms!
